There are moments of teasing cool gusts of wind, or the chirping of a bird outside your window, that remind you of the beauty that warmth brings into the world (before then remembering the constant and unbearable weight of summer heat).  This playlist is in reverence of the blooming of new things, and with new releases from tons of new artists as well as some career making moments from our old favorites, what better time than now for Spring to harken our musical musings?

Millennials and Music Consumption

The debate concerning access to music and royalties is in heat, and thanks to Thom Yorke and his very public statement about the streaming service Spotify last month, media attention has focused its lenses.  A quick and simplified catch up- Some artists are unhappy with their earnings in royalties from streaming services.  In many cases the amounts earned have been quoted as obscenely low (cents for thousands of plays), while Spotify claims to be paying out nearly 70% of its revenue in royalties.  Of course, these royalties include a whirlwind of agencies, advertisers, and rights holders (artists, labels, publishers, and performing rights societies), and as historically done the artist is always making the least amount of money off the music.
